What a crazy last 24hrs. I literally spent every waking minute looking through the different entries. I laughed, cried, and got awed by so many of you. Some of the skills you guys have are amazing. And I’m only about 3/4 done so please be patient with me.
It’s really challenging to choose just one intern for the first phase of The Travel Intern project. There were many entries with personality that I loved, but unfortunately many also fell short when I tried tallying them with your commitment period.
Anyway the good news is that there’ll be another opportunity come Jan/Feb/Mar 2016. So do look out for it and don’t be too disappointed if you don’t make it this round. I’ll also be opening up The Travel Intern in a couple of weeks to people who want to hone their travel writing skills on a freelance basis.

Applications for The Travel Intern closes at 2359hrs tonight! Better hurry up if you haven’t submitted or completed the 2 steps.
Not sure if you’ve realised, but I’ve revealed a total of 3 different destinations (excluding the Machu Picchu picture ofc… I’m not so zai yet lol). So the short answer to the question so many people have been asking is… yes there will be more opportunities after this first internship. :)
But I wonder whether you can guess which of the 3 destinations the 1st travel intern will be going?
The entire experience so far has been really interesting. Other than pitching to sponsors and working hard on my end, I’ve also enjoyed reading many of your applications. It’s been such a humbling experience. While there were many quality entries, there were also many that just seem to be in it for the “free” trip. That felt a little “meh”, but I guess it’s inevitable.
Big plans for The Travel Intern in the long run and I hope I’ll be able to convince you all on the value in due time. For now, apply if you think you have what it takes! :)

What are one of the qualities of a true traveller? Adaptability! Things may not always go as planned, but we can always control how we react to the situation.
Sometimes it’s about dealing with bad weather (can’t believe I missed going on the hot air balloon in Cappadocia twice cause of strong winds and overbooking). Other times it’s about switching plans around due to unforeseen events.
But hey, it’s all part and parcel of travelling.
The next time Murphy turns up, say hi, shout a couple of expletives, and ask him to visit less often. Then continue to make the best of the situation. Yes it’s disappointing cause you’ve invested time and money to be on your trip. But sulking wouldn’t help. Life is too short for us to constantly be negative.
So the question is… do you have what it takes to be a travel intern?

Can you guess where The Travel Intern will be heading to?
Thanks to your response so far, I’ve worked hard and managed to upgrade the location for the sponsored trip to somewhere further than Southeast Asia. ;)

It’s simply mind-blowing! Over 500 applications in just 1.5 weeks. You all are really making it very tough decision for me. D:
Pro-tip: Tagging your old Instagram pictures for Step 2 isn’t the best idea!
