Swimming with Galapagos Sea Lions
Snorkeling with the Galapagos sea lions was probably the most memorable thing I have ever done. Where else in the World can you get up close and personal with these beautiful animals. They were so curious and cheeky too, often swimming around or playing near you. The younger ones even come up to you! Being amongst wild animals, even if they are used to humans, is a truly unforgettable experience. Getting in touch with nature and wildlife kind of made me feel human and humbled again.
I had a really happy time editing this video and I hope this helps make your day too :).
Oh yes, the best part was that this was all free. I literally just took a short hike to the beaches with sea lion colonies on St. Cristobal Island. Just remember to rent, buy or bring a snorkel! The difficult part is spotting them while they are swimming though. Most of the time they are just chilling and acting like kings on the beaches. Of course you can also take a day-trip further out to other sea lion colonies. But personally, I saw much more during my own DIY snorkeling trips than with the organized tour. La Loberia beach is great for spotting sea turtles, sting rays, and other small aquatic fishes as well. At Playa Mann beach, you can even spot small black tip sharks along the rougher waters near the rocks.
Do check out Galapagos Islands on a budget for the detailed breakdown and everything else I did!
p.s. Song by Timeflies Tuesday. A cheeky rendition of one of our favourite Disney classics. Perfect for the cheeky Galapagos sea lions.

This is such an awesome video, Hendric! Thanks for sharing the adorable underwater scenes of sea lions and turtles swimming about so playfully – feels so surreal and wonderful, would definitely want to do this when I travel to South America!
Thanks Agnes! Do share the video if you like it! :)
