With 2015 just round the corner, it’s time to start planning for those long travel weekends and maximise your annual leave. There are 11 days of public holidays and 7 long weekends already in the calendar year, so imagine what a few strategic application of leaves can do to extend your break. In fact, you’ll just need 3 days of your annual leave to stretch it to 10 long weekends. Hooray to more chances for travel!! Plus you still have a good chunk of your annual leave remaining for longer trips.
Read on if you’re wondering where to go for your long weekend getaways in 2015. I’ve done the research for you by listing nearby destinations (<5hrs flight) that typically require only 3-4 days of travel, sorted by categories, and with suggested travel periods based on weather. So all you need to do is just pick and choose your fancy. You’re welcome! :)

Hi, thanks for the awesome recommendations, especially Perhentian and Mount Bromo. These two places look absolutely stunning!
Will you be able to advise on the travelling tips and how to get to these two places and if there are any tours that you recommend? As for as I know, to go up to Mount Bromo, you will need to join a tour.
Thanks :)
Hey Julius,
Unless you want to do it the backpacker way, it is indeed best to take a tour or packaged deal to the destination. There are plenty of companies offering to take you to Perhentian and Mount Bromo.
For Perhentian, I suggest searching for resorts/hotels/accommodation that you are interested in staying, and ask them for transport arrangements from there. It is better than doing it the other way round and get holed up in a not too nice hotel.
For Mount Bromo, I’ve only been to the area with YMCA, but I’m sure a quick google search will bring up tons of companies from SG. I haven’t tried any of the rest so wouldn’t be wise to recommend. It is generally a flight to surabaya, followed by a land transfer to the area near Mount Bromo.
For both, best to find a small group of buddies to go together with to share the transport costs!
